Political relations

The bilateral relations of Serbia and Ireland are assessed as good. The Republic of Serbia is endeavouring to further improve good bilateral relations with Ireland, particularly economic relations and cooperation in multilateral frameworks.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia N. Selaković held bilateral talks with  the former Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence of Ireland S. Coveney on the sidelines of the 132nd Council of Europe ministerial session in Turin.

Economic relations

Economic cooperation is based on trade in goods, and during recent years also on trade in services. In 2021, trade amounted to 138 milion EUR (exports cca 11 million euros, and imports 127 million euros). During 2020, trade amounted to 150,5 milion EUR (exports 12,5 million euros, and imports 138 million euros). The most important areas of cooperation are information technology, production of food and construction material.

Bilateral agreements

There are a total of two bilateral agreements in force:

1. Agreement between the FEC of the Assembly of SFRY and the Government of Ireland on the international road transport of goods - date of signing, ratification and coming into force: 8 June 1988, 16 May 1990, 23 August 1990.

2. Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Ireland on the avoidance of double taxation regarding income tax - date of signing, ratification and coming into force: 23 September 2009, 05 May 2010, 16 June 2010.
