Political relations
Serbia and India traditionally have very good and friendly relations, based on close ties established when the Non-Aligned Movement was founded. They have similar views on many international issues and a mutual interest for strengthening the political dialogue and improving cooperation in all policy areas.
From 9 to 12 January 2017, President Aleksandar Vučić, at the time in the capacity of the Prime Minister of Serbia, participated in the "Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit” and held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi.
The Speaker of the House of the People – the lower house of the Parliament of India, Om Birla, who led the Indian delegation at the 141st session of the Interparliamentary Union in Belgrade from 13 to 17 October 2019, met with Maja Gojković, at the time the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, on the margins of this meeting, on 16 October 2019.
On the occasion of an important anniversary – 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Vice-President of India and ex officio Chairman of the Council of States – the upper house of the Parliament of India, Venkaiah Naidu, was in an official visit to Serbia from 14 to 16 September 2018.
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia at the time, Ivica Dačić, visited India from 1 to 4 May 2018, while the External Affairs Minister of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, was in an official visit to Serbia from 7 to 9 November 2019. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, paid a visit to India on 19-20. September 2021.
Economic relations
In 2022, total trade exchange amounted to 308.9 million dollars, with Serbian exports of 18.04 million and imports from India of 289.9 million dollars.
The largest Indian investor in Serbia is the company "Embassy Group" from Bangalore, which has invested in the construction of an IT park in Indjija. Furthermore, Indian companies have shown significant interest in the tractor industry – Sonalika Group concluded a strategic partnership agreement with Agromehanika from Boljevac in 2012 (the tractor assembly line “Solis” was commissioned in 2014); company Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (ТАFЕ, a part of the Amalgations Group) bought the Industry of Machinery and Tractors (IMT) Belgrade in 2018; while Mahindra Group has been cooperating with Agropanonka (which is a general representative of the Indian company for the Serbian market) since 2007.
