Political relations
Bilateral relations are friendly and with no open issues. A more intensive political dialogue has been registered during recent years. During his official visit to Guatemala on September 28-30, 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia N. Selakovic had separate meetings with the President A. E. Giammattei Falla, the President of the Congress A. Estuardo Rodríguez and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala P. Brolo Vila. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia at the time Ivica Dačić conducted an official visit to the Republic of Guatemala from 26 to 27 March 2019.
First ever bilateral political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Serbia and Guatemala were held on October 13, 2021 in Belgrade. The delegation of the Republic of Serbia was headed by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs N.Starovic, while the Guatemalan delegation was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador C. Ramiro Martinez.
In October 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala P. Brolo Vila has participated in the work of the High-Level Commemorative Meeting to mark the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia N. Selakovic had a bilateral meeting with Minister Brolo Vila during his stay in Belgrade.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala at the time Sandra Erica Jovel Polanco conducted an official return visit to the Republic of Serbia from 5 to 7 September 2019.
Economic relations
During 2020, 607 thousand euros worth of export and 1.4 million euros of import were registered. During 2019 exports have amounted to 583 thousand euros, while imports amounted to 2.351 million euros.
Bilateral agreements
- Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Guatemala on eliminating visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, signed on 10 November 2016 (The Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, No. 4/17 – International Agreements)
