Political relations
Relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Chile are friendly. They are characterised by a mutual interest in improving cooperation, mutual understanding and support related to important issues, as well as mutual readiness to strengthen political dialogue.
The then President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić, at the invitation of the President Sebastián Piñera, attended the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the EU, in Santiago, on 26–27 January 2013.
The then First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić, visited Chile in 2014.
The former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Maja Gojković, in the capacity of a special envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, attended the inauguration ceremony of the President Sebastián Piñera, on 10–11 March 2018.
Economic relations
Trade in goods during 2020 amounted to 14 million euros, with exports amounting to 8.4 million euros, and imports to 5.6 million euros. In 2019, exports amounted to 4.6 million euros, and imports to 3.7 million euros.
Bilateral agreements
- Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations with Chile, signed on 2 November 1950;
- Agreement on Visa Exemption between the SFR Yugoslavia and Chile, signed on 16 May 1973;
- Protocol on the Reestablishment of Diplomatic Relations between the SFRY and the Republic of Chile, signed on 31 March 1990.
