Political relations
On 4 May 2017 the Government of the Republic of Serbia established 25 May as the Day of Friendship with the Peoples of Africa.
Bilateral relations are friendly, although underdeveloped. From the very beginning of Cabo Verde's struggle for independence, SFRY provided assistance to the liberation movement through funding, sending weapons and humanitarian aid, and educating military personnel. A considerable number of students from this country received scholarships from SFRY, particularly during the nineteen-eighties.
Visits from Cabo Verde to the republic of Serbia: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence of Cabo Verde Luis F. L. Tavares was in an official visit to the Republic of Serbia on 17-18 September 2018, signing the MoU between the two ministries of foreign affairs. On this occasion he met the highest officials - Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia A. Brnabić, former First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs I. Dačić, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly V. Arsić, former Minister of Defence A. Vulin and former Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development M. Šarčević.
Meetings on the side-lines of international events: Meeting of the two ministers of foreign affairs in September 2016 on the side-lines of the UN GA in New York and June 2011 in Malab. Meeting of the MFA of the Republic of Serbia with the SS of MFA of Cabo Verde in Bled on 2010 at the IS of AU in January 2011 and 2012 in Addis Ababa.
Economic relations
In 2020, exports amounted to 78,000 euros, while there were no imports. During 2019 exports amounted to 47,000 euros, while imports were 2,000 euros.
