Political relations
Bilateral relations are developing successfully in all areas, based on traditional friendship, cultural, historical, linguistic and religious proximity.
A visit by the President of the Republic of Belarus A. Lukashenko to the Republic of Serbia was conducted on 2 and 3 December 2019.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia A. Brnabić met the President of the Republic of Belarus A. Lukashenko and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus at the time S. Rumas, while participating at the Munich Security Conference on 30—31 October 2018 in Minsk.
The DPM and MFA of the Republic of Serbia at the time Ivica Dačić and the MFA of the Republic of Belarus V. Makei have met separately during the visit of President A. Lukashenko to Belgrade on 2 December 2019.
Economic relations
In 2021 trade in goods amounted to 176, 56 million US dollars, with exports amounting to 50, 95 million US dollars and imports to 125, 61 million US dollars. In 2020 trade in goods amounted to 107,79 million US dollars, with exports amounting to 53,46 million US dollars and imports to 54,32 million US dollars. During 2019 trade in goods amounted to 127.05 million US dollars (exports at 58.93 million US dollars and imports at 68.12 million US dollars).
Exports to Belarus are dominated by: tires for passenger cars, window frames, hoses, artificial animal fodder, floor coverings, paper, cardboard, polyester, white sheet metal, etc. Import Imports from Belarus are dominated by: wire, rope, cables, dampers, ethylene, propylene, butylene, tractors, MDF, potatoes, etc.
Bilateral agreements
There are currently 51 bilateral agreements in force between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Belarus. The following agreements are particularly important:
- Free Trade Agreement, Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defence, Agreement on Mutual Incentives and Protection of Investments,
- Agreement on the avoidance of double taxation regarding income and property tax.
- During the preceding period the two parties have started work on harmonising several interstate agreements.
