VISA REGIME

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Visa is required, including for a passport holder in transit, but only if such holder is leaving the airport international zone. Validity of the passport for travel purpose shall be 6 months from the date of planned entry. Additionally, there need to be two blank pages in the passport when entering the country. Currently, a negative result of the PCR test for COVID-19 is required to enter or leave the country by plane, or tourists will be accommodated, at their expense, in hospital centres for at least 10 days.

No social security agreement has been concluded.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION — There is no obligation of vaccination for people who come to Zimbabwe, except those who come from a region with malaria or yellow fever, according to the regulations of the World Health Organization. However, health services are extremely expensive, and due to the long-term crisis, there is a shortage of basic medicines and sanitary material. There is malaria along water surfaces, especially in summer. The area around the Victoria Falls is a malaria zone and it is recommended to take preventive medications for every stay in such zones. Cholera epidemics are constant in Zimbabwe, as well as epidemics of other diseases of “dirty hands”. Only bottled or boiled water should be drunk, never tap water. Most hotels and houses have cisterns to provide running water for everyday use.

SECURITY SITUATION — Travellers should take standard security measures/precaution and be aware of possible theft. Personal belongings, especially those of greater value, should be kept safe and not left in the car, outside a guarded parking lot, or out of sight.

TRANSPORT — In order to drive a motor vehicle, in addition to a national driver's licence, it is necessary to have an international driving permit.

OTHER INFORMATION — Due to the long-term crisis, there is little food and it is of variable quality. One should always inquire about the daily offer and avoid unverified places. The current voltage is 220 volts, but the connection plugs are three-wire (local), and it is necessary to have an adapter for the European connection. Adapters are available at hotel receptions or supermarkets. Power shortages are constant, for several hours and without notice. Most houses and hotels have generators, but of limited operational capacity due to the lack of gasoline. Mobile telephony, along with roaming, works with SIM cards from the Republic of Serbia. If there is no roaming, it is possible to send and receive messages and receive calls from the Republic of Serbia. Problem is the quality of connections and the constant collapse of the network. Domestic SIM cards may be purchased without special formalities. Better hotels have internet connections in "business centres". There are internet centres in larger shopping malls and use is affordable, but the connection is relatively weak.
