ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
A visa is required for Serbian citizens entering Rwanda. A single-entry visa may be obtained upon arrival in Rwanda, or via website https://irembo.gov.rw/rolportal/web/dgie/single-entry-visa, or through the embassy of Rwanda in Berlin, Germany (tel. 00 49 30 20 91 65 90, fax. 00 49 30 20 91 65 959, e-mail: info@rwanda-botschaft.de). Visa types available include tourist, transit, family, conference, and diplomatic visas. Current Rwanda-visa fees are available at https://irembo.gov.rw/rolportal/web/dgie/single-entry-visa. Passport must be valid for at least another 6 months, or 1 year for the purposes of obtaining resident status. The official WHO’s International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever or Yellow card is required.
Bringing in or taking out local currency is prohibited. There are no restrictions on bringing in other convertible currencies. Travellers are allowed to bring in a total of 200 cigarettes and 1 litre of spirits. It is prohibited to bring in drugs, pornographic material, and firearms. Taking live animals and products from protected species (leather, corals, ebony, etc.) out of the country is prohibited and punishable by prison sentence.

HEALTH SITUATION — More information on the current health situation is available on the website of the World Health Organization website: https://www.who.int/.
There are risks of yellow fever and malaria in lower regions, including insect and reptile bites, jaundice, hepatitis, cholera, amoeba, water worms, etc. People not used to high altitudes may experience altitude sickness. Bottled water is the only safe drinking water.
SECURITY SITUATION — Security in the capital Kigali is at a high level. The capital Kigali, and the country in general, are extremely clean and organised. Travellers should be on alert for pickpocketing and petty theft. Travelling to the parts bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo is not recommended.
TRANSPORT — The only international airport in Rwanda is in the capital Kigali.
Due to underdeveloped road network, the use of off-road vehicles is recommended. Local buses operate between populated areas. Rwanda follows right-hand traffic (RHT) and uses left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles.
OTHER INFORMATION — It is recommended to travel to Rwanda through travel agencies, while individual trips require preparation and thorough planning. Tourist visits to gorilla habitats are very well organised and very popular.
In addition to the local language, English is used in the capital Kigali and some other tourist destinations, but French is the most common foreign language in Rwanda.
The national currency in Rwanda is the Rwandan Franc. International payment cards (VISA, etc.) are accepted in Rwanda, especially in better hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Only the new US dollar bills can be exchanged.
