VISA REGIME

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia, holders of national passports, need a visa (tourist or business), which can be obtained at the Embassy of Myanmar in Belgrade, or by applying through the online system http://evisa.moip.gov.mm.
Travelers entering Myanmar through airports, seaports and cross border point of entries shall be subject to a thermal screening. The foreigners shall bear the cost of the testing, isolation and medical treatment procedures for medical conditions including Covid-19 during their stay in Myanmar and can purchase the health insurance from Myanmar Insurance (www.mminsurance.gov.mm). Travelers shall report to the respective health authorities if they have developed signs and symptoms of Covid-19 during their stay in Myanmar. The travelers shall strictly follow the instructions made by the respective health authorities. A legal action will be taken against traveler concerned if there is a breach of health regulations.
NOTE: We would like to draw attention to the heightened risk of internet fraud, specifically the existence of false advertisements regarding employment in the IT sector. We advise you to: Research the advertised company before accepting a job offer, particularly if the company information is vague or employment details are limited; If you plan on relocating to a different country for a new job, inform family and friends of employment details, to include contact information from the job advertisement; Prior to relocating, schedule regular check-ins with family and friends to confirm safety and well-being;  Upon arrival contact the nearest diplomatic-consular mission of the Republic of Serbia, especially in cases of mistreatment.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION – The level of health services in public hospitals is quite low compared to the private health facilities/hospitals where prices are very high. COVID -19 Health Insurance is mandatory and it is submitted to the respective health authorities upon arrival to Myanmar. There are many cases of malaria and dengue fever in the peripheral parts of Yangon and some rural parts of the country.
Only bottled drinking water should be used for drinking, and food and beverages sold on the street or small restaurants should be avoided.

SECURITY SITUATION – State of emergency declared on 1 February 2021 remains in place nationwide. The security situation is unpredictable and liable to change without notice. Aggressive outbursts are not uncommon and involve the utilization of weapons and improvised explosive devices. Some areas in Myanmar are under martial law and some townships have a curfew, including Yangon. It is advised to be aware of local rules and restrictions and fully respect them while in Myanmar.

TRANSPORT - International airports are located in Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyidaw.

Foreigners need an international driver's license to drive a motor vehicle in Myanmar.

OTHER INFORMATION – Hotel costs can be paid by credit cards (Visa and Mastercard), cash in local currency (Kyat) or foreign currency (US dollar is the dominant foreign currency). The cost of food and beverages in restaurants, and shopping in shopping centres is paid in local currency.
