ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Holders of passports of the Republic of Serbia need a visa, which can be obtained at the Embassy of Mali in Rome, Italy. The remaining validity period of the passport for tourist travel must be 6 months, while to regulate the stay, the validity period of the passport must be 6 months from the date of applying for a visa. It is mandatory to have a certificate of vaccination against yellow fever, except for children under the age of 1 (one). A health insurance is not necessary, but it is recommended.
Bringing a large amount of cash money into the country must be declared with the customs upon arrival.
One may take 2 litres of alcohol and 1,000 cigarettes/2 kg of tobacco to Mali. Animals may be brought into the country if they have a rabies vaccination certificate and a veterinary health certificate.

USEFUL INFORMATION
HEALTH SITUATION – Yellow fever vaccine and malaria prevention measures needed. It is necessary to drink bottled water and to avoid eating raw food. For the latest information on the health situation in Mali, please go to the World Health Organization website.
SECURITY SITUATION – Owing to the currently unstable situation in the country, especially in terms of security, it is not recommended to travel or move around the territory of Mali until further notice.
TRANSPORT – International airports are located in Bamako and Kayes, and airports in Mopti and Timbouctou accept charters from France. Rail traffic takes place three times a week between the two largest cities. A very small number of roads are paved. An international driver's license is required to drive a motor vehicle. In cities, taxi transport is recommended, which is relatively cheap.
OTHER INFORMATION – The official currency is the West African Franc (CFA). Money can be exchanged at banks and exchange offices.
The country has four climate zones: the Sahel desert forest zone north of the 17th parallel, the Sahel steppe zone between the 14th and 17th parallels characterized by rains from July to September, the savannah zone (which also includes the capital Bamako) where rains fall from June to October, the warm season lasts from March to June with temperatures that can exceed 40 °C, the Guinea savannah zone in the south characterized by rain fall that can last from 4 to 6 months a year.
Discreet behaviour and appropriate dress code are recommended.
