VISA REGIME

For holders of diplomatic and official passports:

Visa is not required for stays of up to 90 days.

For holders of national passports and other travel documents:

Visa required.

Note:

Visa is required for the holder of an emergency travel document in transit.

Upon the instructions of the Ministry of Interior of the State of Kuwait, citizens of the Republic of Serbia shall be granted the entry visas to the State of Kuwait upon their arrival to Kuwait international airport.

ENTRY REGIME FOR CITIZENS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

All previous measures introduced in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are abolished. Citizens of The Republic of Serbia on arrival in Kuwait are not required to show a PCR test or vaccination certificate as a condition of entry. Unvaccinated citizens are allowed to enter Kuwait.
The government has also abolished the need to quarantine people who have been in contact with an infected person, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not. Such persons must wear masks for 14 days from the day of contact with the infected person and perform a PCR test only if they get symptoms within 14 days. Infected citizens are obliged to stay in house quarantine for five days.

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY

In accordance with Law No. 106 of 2013 on money laundering and terrorist financing, the Kuwaiti Customs Administration has announced the introduction into practice of an electronic customs declaration form that travelers should fill out before arriving in Kuwait, as well as before leaving Kuwait, which shortens the time required for customs formalities.

The Customs Administration specifies that every person who enters or leaves the country through the land, sea and air ports of Kuwait is obliged to declare to the customs authorities the amount that of possesing in local or foreign currency, i.e. "transferable financial instruments", the value of which exceeds KD 3,000 (9,000 euros) i.e. equivalent in any foreign currency. Falsely entered data in the declaration leads to taking of legal measures against the passenger by the customs authorities. So far, the aforementioned electronic form has not been requested at the borders of Kuwait, and attention is drawn to the fact that the customs authorities may request it.

On 20 June 2017, the Government of the State of Kuwait passed a Decision according to which citizens of the Republic of Serbia are allowed to enter the State of Kuwait with a visa directly from the Kuwaiti border authorities, at border crossings with the State of Kuwait. The decision came into force on 1 October 2017.
If one’s visa expires, a penalty is paid for each day of overstay. The validity period of the passport for the purpose of tourist travel must be at least one year, which also applies to the regulation of the stay.
There is no obligation to vaccinate, and having a health insurance policy is not mandatory.
Money entry is not limited. If someone invites you as a guest (the so-called sponsor), you are not obliged to show how much money you carry, in other cases it is.
The intake of food of pig origin is prohibited, and the intake of alcohol is a criminal offense.
A permit is required to bring hunting weapons into the country. Pets may be brought into the country with a certificate of health of the animal and vaccination against rabies. Although allowed, bringing dogs is not desirable.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT

No social security agreement has been concluded.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION — Vaccinations are not required. Use only bottled water for drinking and cooking. Avoid eating fresh salads and fast-food restaurants due to amoebae. Keep hand hygiene at a high level due to the risk of jaundice.

Travellers should be aware of extreme climatic conditions such as temperatures over 50 degrees with a high percentage of humidity and sandstorms, when it is necessary to protect the face with a mask. In case of illness, all treatment costs are borne by the patient.

SECURITY SITUATION — The situation in Kuwait is generally safe. It is necessary to respect traditions and customs, the violation of which is considered immoral, and it is punishable.

TRANSPORT — The international airport is located in the city of Kuwait. Maritime transport is developed, but not train transport since Kuwait does not have a railway.

An international driver's license is required to drive a motor vehicle. Due to the behaviour of other traffic participants (speeding over 120 km per hour, overtaking from all sides, disregarding traffic signs and signalisation), driving a vehicle is dangerous. Causing a car accident under the influence of alcohol is a serious crime. Public transport is poorly developed. Mostly, taxis services are used, and they are cheap.

OTHER INFORMATION — The national currency is the Kuwaiti dinar. It is not possible to use payment cards issued by Serbian banks.

Kuwait is an Islamic country with a strong tradition. Consumption of food and drinks, as well as smoking in public places during the month of Ramadan is not allowed. Also, public display of affection between the sexes should be avoided.

Women in particular should pay attention to how they are dressed, namely all parts of their body should be covered except their heads. Women should avoid going to public beaches on their own and walking on their own or taking a taxi in the evening. Men should avoid contact with women with whom they are not related.
