HEALTH SITUATION — Healthcare is available on the islands of New Providence and Grand Bahamas. Emergency medical care on these islands is relatively good. Travel insurance is necessary. Current information on the health situation in the country can be found on the World Health Organization website https://www.who.int/countries/bhs/.
SECURITY SITUATION — In The Bahamas, increased caution is advised due to the high crime rate. Most criminal incidents occur on the islands of New Providence (Nassau) and Grand Bahama (Freeport). Violent crimes such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assaults also occur in tourist areas.
Exercise caution when staying in short-term vacation rentals where private security companies are not present. Never swim alone, regardless of your age or swimming ability. Increased caution is recommended during water activities due to the potential danger of shark attacks.
TRANSPORT — Public transport on the island is by minibus and taxi. The price of transport is agreed upon with the drivers. Foreigners and Serbian citizens may drive in the Bahamas for a period of up to three months if they have a national driver's licence along with an international driving permit. Note: driving in the Bahamas is on the left-hand side.
OTHER — Currency: Bahamian Dollar (BSD).
