Đurić Confers with EU Special Representative Sørensen
The meeting focused on the Special Representative’s plans to reinvigorate a productive dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina at the technical level, as well as on topics of mutual interest that could potentially form part of the future dialogue agenda.
Minister Đurić emphasized that Belgrade consistently supports the normalization process and that Serbia shares with the EU a clear and common interest in ensuring progress in this regard.
He stressed the importance of placing greater emphasis on the situation on the ground as the dialogue advances, noting that the most significant threats and obstacles to productive engagement thus far have stemmed from Pristina’s unilateral actions and the negative political climate they have created.
Minister Đurić expressed particular concern over politically motivated judicial proceedings targeting Serbs, describing them as attempts to create an atmosphere of legal and existential insecurity for the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija. He called on the EU to use its influence to help prevent this form of political persecution.
Concluding the meeting, Minister Đurić wished Mr. Sørensen success in his future efforts and affirmed that Belgrade will remain a reliable and constructive partner in the normalization process with Pristina.
