The Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić hosted the traditional New Year's reception today for the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Serbia.

Expressing his gratitude to all representatives of the diplomatic corps for their dedicated work throughout 2024, Minister Đurić emphasized that the achievements of our country we proudly talk about, could not have been realized without the exceptional collaboration with ambassadors who advocate for intensified cooperation with Serbia in their capitals.

"Serbia was able to accomplish good economic results, good results in building up its infrastructure, maintaining stability and peace to a large extent thanks to your profound understanding of the complex political and social and geopolitical and historic context in which you're operating. So we rely on you to continue your excellent work in 2025 and to make 2025 really a brilliant year in our bilateral cooperation," stated Đurić.

Minister Đurić noted that Serbia will continue to strive for strategic partnerships, dialogue, and enhanced cooperation with countries, both from our immediate surroundings—important in our efforts to soon join the European Union—and in maintaining traditional friendships and partnerships as well as establishing new connections across distant meridians.

Addressing the numerous and significant challenges the world faces today, Đurić said that there is a need for more direct engagement and diplomacy. He added that Serbia is a reliable partner committed to preserving the United Nations Charter, principles of international public law, and the fundamental human values around which the world’s nations united in 1945 to establish the United Nations.

On this occasion, Đurić also invited all to collaborate with Serbia on the realization of the specialized international exhibition Expo, which will be held in Belgrade in 2027.

"This is not just a flagship project of the Serbian government. This is an excellent opportunity for each country represented here to engage with not just Serbia and the Balkans, but Europe and beyond. It is an opportunity to present your culture, your economy, your ideas about the future and your most welcome here in Belgrade," Đurić emphasized.

Concluding his remarks, Minister Đurić wished the members of the diplomatic corps and their families a happy and successful New Year.
