Minister Đurić: A new golden age in Serbia-Egypt relations
Highlighting the traditionally good relations between the two countries, Minister Đurić stated that this friendship has been confirmed in many good and difficult times and is also forged in our countries' desire to lead sovereign and independent foreign and domestic policies.
Minister Đurić, addressing the press after the meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, emphasized that the ties between Serbia and Egypt have been further strengthened by the strong personal relationship between our country's President, Aleksandar Vučić, and the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
"Today's visit represents a significant contribution to the further enhancement of our relations, which I would most aptly describe as a new golden age in the relations between Serbia and Egypt," Minister Đurić assessed.
Speaking about the strategic partnership between Serbia and Egypt, as well as the close cooperation between the two countries on various regional, global, and international issues, and mutual support in the international arena, Đurić noted that Egypt is one of Serbia's closest partners in the international community, confirming Serbian support for the Egyptian candidate for the director of UNESCO.
Minister Đurić pointed out that today's meeting also discussed cultural and educational cooperation, but special attention was given to economic collaboration.
"We want to host more tourists from Egypt in our country and see an even greater number of Serbs taking their annual vacations in Egypt, especially in the growing and developing northern part of Egypt, namely the Mediterranean coast, which is becoming an increasingly attractive destination," stated Đurić.
Đurić indicated that Serbia is impressed by the efforts Egypt is making in implementing the Egyptian Vision 2030 plan, and congratulated Minister Abdelatty on the achievements so far and on the opening of Egypt's new capital, which we are confident, according to the Minister, will meet all set goals.
"We wish to host a significant and large delegation of Egyptian businessmen in Serbia this year, and we plan to send another substantial delegation of Serbian businessmen to Egypt. Together with the Free Trade Agreement, which will be ratified in the Serbian Parliament in the coming days, we anticipate this year to mark a major leap in economic exchange between our two countries," Đurić emphasized.
The head of Serbian diplomacy congratulated the leaders of Egypt on their efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East, cease hostilities, and stabilize the tragic conflict.
"The Republic of Serbia stands firmly with Egypt's efforts and in the coming weeks and months, we will be fully prepared to, along with our Egyptian friends, provide additional help to the people in Gaza, and find solutions on how we, as a small country in Southeast Europe, can further support these initiatives to finally bring peace to the region," Minister Đurić conveyed.
Minister Abdelatty, addressing the media after today's meeting, expressed his belief that the visit to Belgrade will strengthen cooperation in all fields.
He pointed out that recent high-level visits best illustrate how strong the mutual relations between Serbia and Egypt are.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also emphasized the support his country provides to Serbia, considering it a great friend, in light of the historical relations that bind them.
Today's meeting with Minister Đurić was described as the pinnacle of the good relations between Serbia and Egypt, underscoring the importance of continuing efforts to enhance and strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Minister Abdelatty announced that Egypt will participate at a high level in the specialized international Expo 2027, hosted by Belgrade, considering the significance of the exhibition.
