03. Dec 2025.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nevena Jovanović attended a ceremonial reception hosted by the Embassy of Canada in Belgrade to mark the introduction of a direct Belgrade–Toronto flight route.

The new route will be inaugurated in May next year, coinciding with the 85th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Canada.

Deputy Minister Jovanović emphasized that the new connection represents a crucial step in further strengthening overall bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation, trade, and business-to-business links.

She highlighted that the direct flight will enhance connectivity between the citizens of the two countries, facilitate contacts with the sizable Serbian diaspora in Canada, and open new opportunities for tourism and cultural exchange.

Speaking about the need to deepen bilateral ties, Jovanović welcomed the establishment of the Canada–Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Canadian House of Commons, noting that this development will contribute to further strengthening political dialogue and institutional cooperation between the two states.

Jovanović also extended an invitation to Canadian partners to take part in the Specialized Exhibition Expo 2027 in Belgrade, underscoring that Serbia remains committed to advancing its partnership and broadening its engagement with Canada.
