Further strengthening of friendly relations between Serbia and Venezuela

23. May 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dusan Kozarev, who is on an official visit to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, met in Caracas with the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, the Vice Minister for Europe and North America, Andrea Coroa, and the Director General of the Venezuelan Institute for Diplomatic Studies, Pedro Sassone.

In a cordial atmosphere, the friendly relations between our peoples and states were reaffirmed, further reinforced through the mutual understanding and communication between Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Nicolás Maduro, the recent meeting between Foreign Ministers Marko Đurić and Yván Gil Pinto, the visit of the Venezuelan Minister of Tourism to Belgrade, and the recent entry into force of the visa waiver agreement.

Secretary General Kozarev expressed gratitude to the hosts for their firm and principled stance on supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and their non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo. The two sides also highlighted the strong cooperation between Serbia and Venezuela, as well as with Caribbean nations, within international organizations.

Minister Gil Pinto conveyed to Secretary General Kozarev an invitation for Foreign Minister Marko Đurić to visit Venezuela at the earliest mutually convenient opportunity.

Ways to deepen mutual engagement were discussed, and opportunities were identified to encourage trade, investment, and knowledge exchange—particularly in the fields of agriculture, advanced technologies, human resource exchange, and education—with a special emphasis on practical cooperation between diplomatic academies.

During the day, Kozarev also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Caracas. Prior to that, he visited the headquarters of the ALBA-TCP organization and held talks with Executive Secretary Jorge Arreaza regarding development assistance projects and Serbia’s enhanced presence in the Caribbean region.
