Ambassador Jovanović: We are trying to solve the problem of trucks on the Ukrainian border with Romania
"We are in contact with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, the MFA and in cooperation with them we are taking measures to get our drivers to leave the zone. We know that there are 44 trucks near Đakovo, there are 30 more trucks in the village ahead, and over 100 trucks have left Serbia in the direction of Ukraine heading towards Belarus and Russia. All of them must return" - Ambassador Jovanović told the Tanjug news agency.
Talking about Serbian citizens in Ukraine, Ambassador Jovanović said that part of them had left the country even before the government's recommendation and that after the official recommendation a number of other people left Ukraine, but that there are also those who are in dangerous locations where the shelling is ongoing, and that they dare not come out of their residences.
"We are in contact with them, and together we will assess when it is possible for them to leave, so that number (Serbs in Ukraine) is quite relative." - Ambassador Jovanović added.
Jovanović explained that those who plan to leave Ukraine by passenger car do not do so during curfew, because it is very dangerous, that is, he warned that anyone who is on the street at that time is considered a saboteur, spy and can be killed on the face. places.
He noted that last night in Kiev the situation was calmer than the previous nights, that there were fewer detonations and reminded that this morning at 8 o'clock the curfew has ceased, and that it will be reinstated at 10 p.m. - lasting until 7 a.m. the following day.
"Some detonations can be heard in the distance." - the Ambassador said during the conversation, adding that announcements have been made that some shops would be supplied with food.
"This morning, we have organized ourselves so that our staff dropped by their residences and purchased some more food on the way. So far, we are all fine, we have enough food, and through some friends who run a restaurant we managed to get some bread which is now hard to find. We are struggling but we are somehow managing." - Ambassador Jovanović, said responding to a question about the status of the Serbian diplomatic staff in Kiev.
Ambassador Jovanović remarked that they remain in Kiev, and should they be instructed otherwise, they will act in accordance with the decision of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We keep in touch with our citizens and have received calls from some of those who have not been contacting us previously. We have informed all the people whose addresses and telephone numbers we have about the measures and recommendations that our government has made for leaving the territory of Ukraine. They are now calling us we keep in touch, providing them with information about what awaits them, considering the numerous checkpoints on the long trip that they are facing." - Ambassador Jovanović said.
